Information About Bali, IndonesiaBali is a small island (isle) which geographically lies in the southern part of Indonesia, between the islands of Java in the west, and Lombok and the rest of the Lesser Sunda Islands (Sumbawa, Flores, Sumba and Timor) in the east. It is one of the "more-than" 17,000 islands making up the Indonesian Archipelago (Nusantara). Stretching around 145kms (90miles) from east to west and 95kms (60miles) from north to south, the island has a chain of six volcanic mountains in the center; Mount Agung (3,142m) is the highest point. There are lush tropical forests, pristine crater lakes, fast flowing rivers and deep ravines, picturesque rice terraces, and fertile vegetable and fruit gardens. The beaches in the South consist of white sand, beaches in other parts of the island are covered with gray or black volcanic sand — all within 1 day drive! Bali has a year-round pleasant climate. Lying 8° south of Equator, it boasts a tropical climate of wet and dry seasons with annual temperatur of 28°C.
